More Exposing Sexual Revelations, TMI and Nakedness! By Steve V. Rodriguez
Host of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX, Steve V. Rodriguez Photo: Brian Leighton
In Episode 10 of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX podcast, "Exposed", I go solo and open up about my sexual evolution from adolescence until today. Some may say it was a bold move to expose my personal stories of sexual tales that are often only seen in coming of age films that, for the most part, are awkward to watch, but you know we all have our own stories of sexual growth that are comparable or worse. For those of you who have already listened, I hope my honesty and curated selection of tales made you think of your own sexual evolution. The other inspiration for the show was for you to get to know me, as your host a little more as I lead us on this sexual journey. Hopefully our sexuality doesn't have a shelf life, and while it shouldn't have one, we should continue to explore the multitude of directions it leads.
Far Right: Steve V. Rodriguez as a young gymnast with best in front, teammate and Coach Around 1982
I wanted to share a story that didn't make the cut on the "Exposed" episode, that I recalled over the weekend. I went to a Catholic high school in California. I had this math instructor who was quite handsome. He was also the swim coach, and had I not been so immersed in gymnastics, I would have joined the team just to be 'coached' by him. He was friends with Father Dusty (names have been changed to protect the pedophiles) KIDDING! We would have school church masses in the gymnasium once a month and everybody loved Father Dusty. He was young, cute, funny and could relate to the students. He really made church fun!
This one time...I mean, there was one occasion that Father Dusty and my math teacher participated in a homecoming skit that had a beach theme. I couldn't believe that both Father Dusty and my math teacher were in bathing suits and tank tops acting as lifeguard and surfer. The vision of both of them really was hot given the dichotomy of their day jobs: High School Teacher and Priest.
Every day my friend Raven and I (okay, names are made up! ...I really wish I had a friend named Raven!) would walk into math class greeted by our math instructor. He would always greet us at the door saying something like, "Hello Ms. Rivera, Hellos Mr. Rodriguez...'Once again, you're wearing a very dapper (fashionable, stylish, etc) outfit," which usually followed by a nod or a wink tossed in my direction. I'm sure I was a total blushing vision, as back then, I was much shyer drawing inspiration from a geisha practically. GAG! Every morning I would stress about having to put together a re-worked version of an outfit that received praise, a daily practice that continues today.
Later after graduation, I think my math instructor gave me his phone number or possibly his email to keep in touch while at college. I was eighteen at this point. I really can't remember, if I ran into him at a gay bar or if I reached out to him while in college... that part is a blur. We ended up getting together for dinner and later went back to his apartment. I remember being excited and thinking, 'Am I on a date?" He made a move on me, climbing on me as we both made out. He was really sexy, but I couldn't tell if I was totally attracted or just excited that my former high school teacher was making out with me. In fact it all makes sense now. All those daily compliments, winks and special 'hellos' signified that he was flirting. I think we kept in touch by phone for a bit more, but we never got together again. I think I was a little nervous to revisit the situation because I don't think I had the maturity to make sense of what I was feeling.
A year or two later I ended up running into Father Dusty at a gay bar. I was really excited to see him, yet now it was not as Father Dusty, but as a fellow gay man. I think he really wanted to get together outside of the bar and I remember he called me several times leaving voicemails for me. Again, it was exciting, but now the dynamic had totally changed between us and I don't think I was ready to deal with my feelings, so I never returned his calls.
Those stories today really resonate in my mind with joy, excitement for my former self and just plain hot stories. I hope it conjured up your early sexual tales and memories for you, and that you can look back at your early sexual growth with a smile.

Awake, Aware and Alive with Teddy Bass - Episode 7 Special Guest on T.A.G.S
Teddy Bass
For those of you who have listened to Episode 7 of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX with my special guest, Teddy Bass, you will recognize the title of this post when Bass quoted the Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith words to live by: AWAKE, AWARE AND ALIVE. Beckwith is the spiritual director at the AGAPE CENTER in Los Angeles and Bass is a practicing member and involved in the amazing choir productions the center produces. Teddy shared so many of his life lessons, and advice he's been given for growth that I hope people listen and get something out of this very special episode.
I was happy that Teddy agreed to sit down with me for this one on one discussion. I had been so used to having one of my sidekicks on the show with me that I was concerned this would turn into an interview and not a free conversation. I am happy with the outcome as I've heard the episode two times now and I think both of us freely opened up about our sexual lives and growth in maturity. Part of this had to do with the exquisite setting we had at the Hotel Bel Aire. The evening was a cold night, just a couple days after New Year's Day. The Swan Lake room had a fire place and Teddy and I sat across from each other on a plush couch and cushy cream chair. I drank champagne, of course and Teddy drank a virgin mocktail.
The other reason I think the conversation flowed had to do with our mutual growth in life experiences from the time we me in 1998 until now in 2017, just a year shy of 20 years. I can't say we've been close friends that entire span, in fact you'll hear a little bit in the episode about when we met and the two trips we took together to Vegas and Palm Springs. After a few years of working behind the desk at the trainer gym that is no longer, Todd Tramp's in West Hollywood, CA, I had become a personal trainer. Teddy introduced me to a different training gym also in Weho that I brought a few clients too. I left the industry and my acting career to take a job in special events and marketing. I didn't see Teddy during my final years living in Los Angeles and later I had moved to New York in 2007.
SIZZLING HOT PR
About four years ago I took a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico to celebrate my friend's birthday. There were about four of us in town, but my friend Frank and I arrived a day early to check out the nightlife scene. We felt we hit the jackpot with our first stop, SX, as it was the former Eagle, yes PR had a leather bar at one point. Although it had been replaced by the new SX, the dark, dungeon vibe still held over and the new spot featured hot sexy boys wearing nothing but jockstraps and g-strings, as well as a sizable dark room. They danced and approached the patrons and often did private dances, but it was the bartender, who we called Superman that really caught our attention, or should I say his unit that caught our eye. He had a big Superman tattoo on his chest and went by the nickname. Superman often took off his clothes, climbed on the bar and waived that huge piece in front of our eyes. It was about that time that I looked around the room to see if anyone else was as fixated as I was, and to my surprise I saw Teddy Bass staring right at me. I heard his infectious laugh from across the bar as I pointed at him, with my mouth wide open, to the surprise of seeing my old friend. We embraced and I introduced him to my friend Frank. We hung out the remainder of that trip, but more importantly it reignited our friendship.
My friendship with Teddy has stood the test of time and I think we both enjoy seeing each other's growth. As Teddy said on the podcast, "I think everyone is going through and identity crises, to some extent, so there is a need to identify with some thing..." With that I invite you to listen, if you haven't already, to my conversation with Teddy Bass below. Follow him @teddybfitness
Collaborating & Creating with My Special Guest Rico Noguchi
Special Guest, Rico Noguchi on TALK ABOUT GAY SEX podcast "Sexual Awakenings"
I always look forward to getting together with my current special guest, Rico who graces episode 6 of my podcast, Talk About Gay Sex, "Sexual Awakenings". I've been fortunate to use his Neo-Tantric, Leather Shamanism services as well as collaborate on projects like his short film, "Second Skin" , my fashion show, Fashion 2 Fetish, and on his upcoming short film, which I had the pleasure to be one of the featured subjects, "It Gets Harder". Stay tuned for a special screening night in May in New York City.
One of the things that I hope comes across in episode 6 is Rico's thoughtfulness when he speaks. There is a sort of 'less is more' side to Rico that when he does speak, people listen. He also possesses an acute ear towards life's humor, and I can attest to having many laughing moments with Rico, particularly when we're not working sipping tequila at the Eagle. Okay, he sips pure tequila, I drink top shelf margaritas. I will never forget Rico coming a day early to DC to join me in celebrating my birthday in January with my dearest friend, Frank and sister Vivian. We had so much fun at dinner, and even more fun bar hopping and checking out the Eagle in DC. It's always a fashion moment when I get together with Mr. Noguchi. The man loves a good fashion statement, and better yet, can pull off so many looks. Who else thinks to wear a harness underneath a blazer as he storms around the city in one of his many sexy pairs of leather boots.
Frank, Vivian, Steve V. Rodriguez and Ep. 6 Special Guest, Rico Noguchi in DC with new Friend.
I know how much I love being in Rico's presence, but it's moments that I get to introduce him to my special friends like Frank and my sister who tell me how much they love hearing him speak, or my co-host, Steve Carpenter who really enjoyed our episode, "Sexual Awakenings". I'll never forget when we ended the podcast and I ran to the restroom. All of sudden I could hear Carpenter's infectious laugh in the other room. I ran out saying "what did I miss?". Carpenter was laughing hysterically, saying that Rico had asked him, "So Steve says that your his Psychic?", in a very serious and matter of fact tone, and Carpenter said, "What?", "No, I'm his SIDEKICK, not his PSYCHIC!!!!". It's that kind of earnest and non-judgmental attitude that Rico possesses, amongst so many other beautiful qualities that continue to unveil themselves to me.
Take a moment and listen to our podcast with Rico, "Sexual Awakenings", I think you'll love getting to know a little about this amazing soul. Follow him on his Tumblr site; http://tantricshaman4men.tumblr.com/

VEGAS BABY & JLO! Recording Ep. 5 in Sin City with Kevin M. Thomas
The JLO crew Kevin M. Thomas, Vivian, Gianna, Jeremy Ross Lopez, Steve V. Rodriguez & Frank
What can I say, it's Vegas and proved to be the perfect locale to record Episode 5 of Talk About Gay Sex, "Sex, Bears, APPS OH MY!" with Kevin M. Thomas. It didn't hurt that we had an amazing crew starting with my sidekick/bff, Jeremy Ross Lopez, my sister Vivian, my long time dear friend, Frank, and our beautiful and special friend Gianna. The excitement was palpable in our amazing Cosmopolitan suite that overlooked the Vegas strip. The girls were getting their hair and makeup done, Frank was pouring champagne and Jeremy, myself and Kevin moved into the bedroom to record Episode 5 of the podcast series.
We were excited because we had tickets to see JLO across the street at Planet Hollywood. Jeremy is a super fan, but I think I can attest for all of us that we all became super fans as well after seeing the spectacular show JLO created. ALL I HAVE is the name of the show and JLO truly gives you all of her and more. From her extensive catalogue of music to her dancing, showmanship and singing. YES, singing! JLO sounded great. How do I know this? She did a couple of ballads that really showcased her voice. We were impressed!
I loved recording this episode because it showed that I can produce this show on the road with minimal equipment. I think the synergy between Jeremy, Kevin and myself can be heard on the episode. Kevin has always been like an older brother, but it was fun to have the three of us open up about our sex lives. I will never forget Jeremy teaching our audience how to shoot a good 'hole' shot for the apps...yes there is a right way and a wrong way for all you bottoms.
Be sure and listen to Episode 5 of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX with Kevin M. Thomas. Follow Kevin @reelkev on Twitter and @reelkevo on IG. Follow Jeremy @jrosslopez
My Friendship with Lucas ENT Star, Drae Axtell - Special Guest on T.A.G.S podcast
Host Steve V. Rodriguez of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX & Drae Axtell in PR sipping Pina Coladas
Drae Axtell is our special guest on Episode 4 of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX podcast. When I first met Drae Axtell about three years ago it was in New York City at the now closed, G Lounge in Chelsea. I was hanging out with my friend Ralph catching up and two, very cute guys sidled up to us in the lounge, one of them being Drae. Drae was definitely the talker of the two. His friend was visiting from Puerto Rico and Drae lived in upstate New York. The two of them were exploring the city at night. My friend Ralph and I were happy to have our two new friends choose us to sit next to. I suggested we head over to my favorite spot, The Eagle and everyone agreed to see where the night took us. Drae and I really got along, surprisingly since we were 20 years apart in age. Initially we had a sexual attraction...I mean what's not to like about Drae! However, after visiting him in Puerto Rico and a few visits to New York, we fell into being friends, and I might argue, into an older brother/younger bro. I learned so much new street lingo and loved sharing advice when he asked.
Drae was exploring his options in the Puerto Rican military and a potential career in fitness. I encouraged that option, but he was approached by Michael Lucas of Lucas Entertainment, which ultimately he chose to climbing success. I'll admit Drae and I had a falling out where we were out of contact for over a year, but I think we both let it all go now. We reconnected late last year and had an awesome catchup over lunch earlier this year. I think life needed to happen and I'm so happy to be friends again with Drae. He agreed to be our special guest on the show and I loved how articulate, funny and open he was for our audience. Let's not forget his beauty and work on camera! I also got to hang out with him recently in Puerto Rico for a couple days and I really enjoyed seeing how he's maturing into a thoughtful and intelligent man. His honesty is admired by everyone he comes in contact with.
If you haven't already listen to Episode 4 of TALK ABOUT GAY SEX, "Our Obsession with Porn". Look for Drae's work @lucasent or @draeaxtell www.draeaxtell.com
